The Department of International Relations has opened the second selection round for Erasmus+ grants. This is the round for mobilities in the second semester of the current academic year, and applications are for study mobility only, not for placements.
The information webinar
Tuesday, 6 October 2026, from 18:00, online. It covers where you can study, how to apply, how much the grant is worth and what else the Erasmus+ programme opens up. Registration is in advance.
Who may apply
Students enrolled at bachelor's, master's or doctoral level, except doctoral students in structural fund projects. The conditions apply together, not one at a time:
- at most three outstanding exams on the date of the selection, and at most three on the date the mobility would start
- all university fees paid up to date: tuition, accommodation, re-examination
- foreign language skills at the level required by the partner university; most recommend B1 as a minimum
- a mobility of at least two months
First-year students, both bachelor's and master's, cannot apply in this round. They may apply at the earliest in the second semester, once they have the results of their first exam session.
The calendar of the round
- 8 to 22 October 2026: applications submitted
- 22 to 27 October 2026: applications processed
- 27 to 29 October 2026: selection interviews
- 30 October 2026: preliminary results
- 31 October 2026: appeals submitted
- 2 November 2026: appeals settled and final results
Interviews are held online, in Romanian, with the university's Erasmus+ selection committee. The link is sent automatically from the platform to your @student.upt.ro institutional address, so make sure in advance that you can reach that mailbox.
How much the grant is worth
- 674 euro a month for Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden
- 606 euro a month for Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey
- a further 250 euro a month for students with fewer opportunities
- a travel amount, calculated from the distance between Timisoara and the destination
The grant does not cover every cost of the mobility; it covers the difference between the cost of living in Romania and in the host country. At the host university you pay no tuition, enrolment or examination fees, and the period is recognised in credits and recorded in the diploma supplement.
How to apply
Applications are submitted on mobilitati.upt.ro. This round accepts applications only for the universities on the list of places available for the second round: a mobility runs under a bilateral agreement, and the agreement also states the language of teaching and the eligible fields.
Choose the university by looking at two things at once: which of its courses fit your own curriculum, and in which language they are taught. Then check the target university's Erasmus+ incoming page, because it has its own requirements and its own deadlines, and the UPT conditions are not the only ones to meet.
The list of places, the required documents and the scoring criteria are on the Department of International Relations page. Questions go to erasmus.outgoing@upt.ro.
On the faculty website, the Erasmus+ and mobility page gathers the other mobility programmes open to students.
