For third-year students on the Mechatronics and Robotics programmes, progression to year IV requires all credits from years I and II and at least 35 credits from year III. These requirements must be taken into account when completing the annex to the study contract for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Requirements for progression to year IV
Under Article 44(2) of the UPT Regulation on the organisation and conduct of undergraduate studies, both of the following conditions must be met by the end of year III:
- all credits from years I and II must have been obtained;
- at least 35 credits from year III must have been obtained.
Credits earned in year III above the minimum threshold do not compensate for outstanding credits from years I and II. Credits from facultative courses do not count towards these requirements.
Course enrolment
Article 29 requires students to enrol for all credits not yet obtained in their current year of study, as well as outstanding credits from previous years. Third-year students must check the annex to their study contract against the outstanding courses from years I and II and the courses for year III.
Article 29(5) provides an exception to the requirement to enrol for all outstanding courses when the total number of credits to be taken exceeds 70. This provision does not change the requirements for progression to year IV: all credits from years I and II must be obtained by the end of year III. Students should contact the faculty registry for clarification on how the exception applies to their individual academic record.
Enrolment in a course does not constitute a pass. Credits are awarded upon passing the course, and eligibility to progress to year IV is determined from the academic record at the end of the academic year.
Regulatory framework
The regulation was approved by UPT Senate Decision No. 53 of 3 July 2025 and has applied since the 2025-2026 academic year. Article 80(2) provides for a transition period of up to two years, subject to approval by the Faculty Council Bureau, for students whose circumstances did not meet the requirements of Articles 29, 44 and 78. The transition period is not an exemption automatically granted to all students.
This notice concerns the four-year Mechatronics and Robotics programmes. On the Informatics programme, both full-time and distance learning, year III is the final year, and the requirements for passing the final year and completing the degree apply.
Students may contact the faculty registry to check their academic record and clarify the annex to their study contract.
